Scouts from Pack 874 participate in various Pack activities and Den activities throughout the year.
Some activities are just for fun, and some are for community service. The highlights of some of our
traditional activities are described below. Please see the Pack and Den calendars for dates and details.
SEPTEMBER
Join Scouting Night. Pack 874's Leaders and Scouts gather at GlenMar United Methodist Church to welcome
prospective Scouts and their families. The boys build boats and race them in a Raingutter Regatta, while
the parents learn about Scouting and Pack 874's activities.
Pack Meeting. Our First Pack meeting of the year, held at GlenMar United Methodist Church.
OCTOBER
Fall Camping Trip. In the fall, Pack 874 usually camps at a youth group site in Patapsco State Park.

Campfire and Pumpkin Carving Contest at Camp Ilchester. Bring your scariest, craziest, or plain nuttiest carved pumpkin.
The boys will vote on pumpkins in several categories and roast s'mores over the fire.
NOVEMBER
National Family Volunteer Day. Our boys and their families volunteer at a local park. Watch for details . . .
Pack Meeting and Cake Auction. Our November Pack meeting is our traditional cake auction. Bake, decorate and bring
a cake and watch the bids mount! (Don't know what kind of cake to make? Check out the pictures from prior auctions here.)
Pack 874 contributes one hundred percent of the proceeds from the cake auction to needy families sponsored by GlenMar United
Methodist Church. Following the auction, each Den is given a budget and a wish list from one of the families. The boys then
go on a holiday shopping trip.
DECEMBER
Holiday Pack Meeting. Pack 874 hosts a holiday party with songs, games, crafts and goodies.
JANUARY
Winter Camping Trip. The Extreme Games at Broadcreek. For more information on Pack 874's camping trips, please click

FEBRUARY
Klondike Derby. Scouts from Pack 874 participate in the Klondike Derby, a day-long adventure in a nearby park, where
the boys re-enact the trials and tribulations of prospectors for gold in the Yukon Territory.
Blue & Gold Dinner. Every year we celebrate the achievements of our Scouts at our Blue & Gold dinner, usually held at
the Catonsville Lodge. At this dinner, we bid a fond farewell to our Senior Webelos as they bridge into Boy Scouts.
MARCH
Pinewood Derby Workshop. Bring your Pinewood Derby car kit to the garage of one of our handy parents and get a head start
on your race car.
Scouting for Food. During the Scouting for Food Campaign, our Scouts distribute bags in their designated neighborhoods
and then return a week later to collect the bags full of non-perishable food items. After gathering for a final count, we
will transport all the bags to a local food bank. This past year, the food bank representative graciously gave the boys a tour,
and explained how the efforts of the boys and others helps the community.
Pinewood Derby. Come one, come all, and see one of the most thrilling car races of all time!
The action is non-stop, the excitement unbounded, and the competition fierce. Click here for a
list of Pinewood Derby Rules. You can find the results of the
2009 Pinewood Derby right here.
